1. Toddler Board Games Provide New Experiences
For toddlers life is all about gaining new experiences. There is nothing better as a parent then seeing your toddler’s eyes light up with each new experience. Toddler board games are a great way to give your toddler tons of new experiences! There are a bunch of great board games for toddlers, and each one will give them something new to enjoy and explore. Whether its their first matching game, dice game or cooperative game (check our a review of our favorite cooperative board game for toddlers), you’ll love watching them explore the world of board games.
2. Start Learning the Fun Way
What could be a more fun way to learn then playing board games? I certainly can’t think of any! I am a firm believer that learning is meant to be fun, especially when you’re young. Board games can teach toddlers colors, shapes, letters, numbers, counting and more, while in your toddler’s eyes all you’re doing is playing together. Playing board games with your toddlers is the perfect way to set them off on the right foot and start a life long journey of learning the fun way!
3. Amazing Developmental Benefits
While academic learning is the most obvious benefit of board games, there are also tons of developmental benefits that toddlers can take from playing board games. Fine motor skills tops the list in my mind. With dice, spinners, cards, and game tokens, board games are great tools for toddlers to improve their fine motor skills. Toddler board games are also great for learning communication skills. When toddlers are learning a new game and asking questions (or telling you how the game should be played as the case may be!), they are soaking in all that communication. You’ll be amazed how playing board games with your toddler will transform their communication skills.
4. Lay the Foundation for a Lifetime of Board Games
One of my favorite memories growing up was family game nights. Sibling, parents, and grandparents all gathered together playing games, it was always so much fun! As a parent who loves board games, one of the things I look forward to is playing my favorite games down the road with my adult children and their kids. What better way to help that dream come true then to encourage a love of board games starting at a young age!
5. Toddler Board Games are Great for Confidence
The last reason we love playing board games with toddlers is the confidence it gives them! Toddlers are very rarely on a level playing field with their parents. Board games put you and your toddler on the same level. Giving your toddler the opportunity to play games with you and do exactly what you’re doing is huge for their confidence. You’ll love watching them light up when they get to play board games, just like you!
